Holy Rosary Church has a thriving, growing Music Ministry. The Director of Music Ministry is Chrissa Walsh. She brings 35 years of liturgical experience and a wide array of musical styles in her repertoire.
If this is the ministry for you, please contact Chrissa Walsh by calling Holy Rosary Church (615-889-4065 x 224), Chrissa’s cell (615-268-3959) or by email (firstname.lastname@example.org). We are always welcoming new choir members and instrumentalists.
We have adult choirs for the 8:30 and 11:00 Masses. The 5:00 Mass is usually a cantored Mass, with an occasional choir. Rehearsals are on Wednesday nights (check the bulletin for rehearsal times) and all adults rehearse together. There are ADDITIONAL special occasion rehearsals throughout the year. We also invite those who only want to sing on special occasions to join us in rehearsals in the month prior to the scheduled special Mass (i.e. Christmas Eve Masses, please join us in rehearsals the first week of Advent through Christmas Eve; Holy Week Services, please join us after Ash Wednesday).
Youth Choir is for young people in 3rd grade through high school. This group sings for the Mass the third Sunday of each month at 11:00, and occasionally at 5:00 Mass. Participants must have already made their First Communion and able to participate fully in the Mass. Music is traditional, contemporary, and occasional gospel formats.
Joy Choir is for children in Kindergarten through 2nd grade or First Communion. This choir sings preludes for Mass at either the 5:00, 8:30 or 11:00 Masses at least 2 times a month. Once each has made their First Communion, they will promote to the Youth Choir! Music is age appropriate and designed to enhance the theme of each Mass or liturgical season.
Cherub Choir is for ages 3, 4, and 5. This delightful bunch also sings preludes for Mass at either the 5:00, 8:30 or 11:00 Masses at least twice a month. Their songs are age appropriate and designed to help the little ones be a part of church. Once they are in Kindergarten they have the option to promote to the Joy Choir or stay until they have completed their Kindergarten year.
Currently under development: If you can count to 6 and know your left hand from your right hand, you can learn to play handbells! All ages are invited to join. As this choir is our next project, please contact the church office to express your interest! We hope to get this rolling soon!
Our lead accompanist is Rebecca Horton. Rebecca is an accomplished organist and pianist and is a trained liturgist with many years of liturgical experience. She is also a former nun! There are times when you will see Ladd Cabellero, Marcina Clark, Barbara Santoro, Chris Melton, George Reynolds, Jim Wilkins and Annie Reynolds share their accompaniment as well!
We are always open to instrumentalists and have enjoyed several who have shared guitar, flute, clarinet, and violin expertise. We welcome any age interested in being a part of beautiful liturgy.
